Hide and seek by yourself

Hide and seek by yourself – Hitori Kakurenbu

Posted by

Everyone knows the game of hide-and-seek and everyone has played it at least once, but what I’m proposing today is a scary variation: hide-and-seek alone.

Started as a trend in Japan and called “Hitori Kakurenbo,” it quickly became popular in other parts of the world, often with chilling consequences. Here are the rules:

  • Don’t let the game last more than two hours, it could become too dangerous
  • When you play, you must be the only human beings in the house
  • When you hide, remain completely silent
  • Under no circumstances should you come out of your hiding place before time is up.

Required items:

  • a rag doll with arms and legs
  • enough rice to fill the doll
  • nail clippers
  • a needle and long red thread
  • a knife or scissors
  • a bathtub (a sink will do)
  • a cup of water and salt

Preparation:

  1. Using the knife or scissors, open the rag doll and remove the contents
  2. Fill the doll with rice, cut one of your fingernails and put it in the doll with the rice
  3. Sew the doll back up with the red thread and then, without cutting it, wrap the doll with the same thread
  4. Fill the bathtub or sink with water
  5. Give the doll a name that is different from your own, for example, “Teddy.”

The game:

nascondino da soli

The game must begin at exactly 3 a.m. At the third chime, take Teddy to the bathroom and place him on the edge of the previously filled bathtub, hold him tight and, looking at him, repeat three times:

This time, it’s my turn!

After the third time, throw Teddy into the bathtub, leave the bathroom, close the door, and turn off all the lights in the house. Choose a wall to use as a hideout and slowly count to 10. When you’re done, grab the knife or scissors, go back to the bathroom, grab Teddy, shout “I found you, Teddy!” and free him from the red string you tied him with. Now shout “Teddy, now it’s your turn” and put him back in the bathtub.

Choose a hiding place, take the cup of salt water and take it with you without spilling the contents. Ever. Stay in your hiding place without making the slightest noise, even controlling your breathing. Do not come out for any reason whatsoever, no matter what you hear. You may hear footsteps, whispers, voices, but for heaven’s sake, don’t come out and don’t spill the water! Stay hidden until dawn, at which point you can end the game as follows: take a sip of salt water and keep it in your mouth, don’t spit it out! Run to the bathroom and look for Teddy. He may no longer be in the bathtub, so you’ll have to look for him and find him. You must.

Once you find him, spit the water on him, then pour the water from the cup on him and shout “I won!” three times. In reality, you’ve almost won. Now you have to dry Teddy and then burn him completely. Once he’s completely burned, then you’ve won. However, in the following weeks, you may feel strange presences in your home, voices calling you, hands grabbing you, and sudden chills.

The rice inside the doll is used to attract spirits, while the red thread symbolizes blood vessels. Play hide and seek alone at your own risk.

Those who manage to finish it can comment below with their results.
